Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Trying to see past Pam Anderson running down the beach with her, inflatables, and Eric Estrada in his white crash helmet and shades getting off his honda hero :blink: (hope that was him)
http://blogs.wsj.com/indiarealtime/2...-chips-in-goa/ is this an exageration: Let’s hope the security force is as successful as the lifeguards at preventing holiday tragedies. So far this season, there have been fewer than 10 people killed on the beaches due to drowning. That’s down from an average of more than 70 annually in the past. sounds good, but struggling with the figures? |
Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Apparently all of the drunk drivers in Goa are tourists
http://www.oheraldo.in/news/Local News/Drive-against-alcohol-40-motorists-booked/36090.html “Accidents at night along the coastal belt from Siquerim to Baga has become a regular feature and drivers those were found responsible for the accidents were tourists, both foreign and domestic.†I mean it couldn't be any good christian Goans could it?:embarrassed_smile::angel_smile: Or is this just another scam? |
Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Actually todays Herald looks good
http://www.oheraldo.in/news/Local News/Extend-visas-of-stranded-tourists-Goa-urges-Centre/36070.html The Tourism Department working for tourists. What next? http://www.oheraldo.in/news/Local News/4-held-for-harassing-tourists-at-Anjuna/36082.html Tourist being harassed, surely not? |

Times of India
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...ow/5839289.cms Let that be a lesson to all you drug dealers:angry_smile: I was still asked three times tonight if I wanted some "smoke" whilst walking to a restaurant, so it obviously hasn't deterred anyone yet :banghead::banghead: Or perhaps he was a man in Khaki in disguise trying to set me up for some bribe money:thumbdown: |
Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Different men in Khaki this time;
http://oheraldo.in/news/Local%20News...ors/36080.html If you've ever had to deal with one of these obnoxious creatures you will fully understand the article. Do they make them wear khaki deliberately? (It is a hindi word and translates as "sh*t-coloured) |

Stranded passengers in Goa cant fly back by a different airline - if this article is true its another tragic example of Goa killing off its own tourism industry. |

Anyway the story doesn't add up - why should anyone be stopped from boarding a domestic flight to Mumbai? and why would anyone at Mumbai try to enforce a misunderstood rule that allegedly only applies to Goa? What the authorities do have to do in the current case is allow charter carriers to aggregate capacity to get people out. AndyD 8-)# |

Sounds like the usual cock-up - there is a rule that you can only fly out with the charter carrier you came with, therefore if you came scheduled you can no longer buy a charter ticket home, and if you came by e.g. Thomas Cook you can't return with First Choice - but you can fly BA scheduled (why shouldn't you?) - in fact the rule sets down what charter carriers can do, not what passengers can do .

From Sunday's Times of India. What is needed is some humanitarian common sense - these people need help. |

From Sunday's Times of India. What is needed is some humanitarian common sense - these people need help. ...a charter tourist in Goa must return by a chartered flight, except if leaving the country from bigger airports such as Mumbai... AndyD 8-)# P.S. and people on package tours including a charter flight are entitled to free food and accomodation! |
