Latest murder/rape saga
I got death threats outside court: Russian rape victim
http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/...#ixzz0ZBLPujKg
1) Scarlett Keeling
2) The German teenage girl
3) Elena Sukhonova
4) ?
5) ?
6) ?
I know I'm being snarky, what is everyone expecting. It's everytime the same thing.
Each episode we hear how the victims/kindred are in utter dismay and disbelief as to how dare the victims be treated in such a despicable manner. But it's like a scratched vinyl record repeating itself. Speaking of deja-vu and being blasé. This case will go nowhere just like the previous ones. We'll have vikram varma profess his well repeated usual ranting litany. The slipshod lickspittle police handling of the case. The locals with their reproach of foreigners being scantily clad. The scofflaw politicians using this issue to settle rivalries. The accused who already declared that he is being framed just like poor Monserate jr. GOA

Minister of Tourism Goa stood up for victims of violence from Russia

Has someone finally realised just how much damage is being done to Goa's tourism industry.

This creep is always the first to jump on a bandwagon for personal/political reasons. The Russians have put an awful lot of money into Goan politicians pockets, but of course not in his . This is just one of his ways of saying thank you and making sure the flow doesnt dry up

He's loaded with cash. He's driving a Mercedes and a Hummer.
Been to Moscow's tourism fair.
Getting a cut from the Russian tourism lobby for TLP issuance at the airport.

Useful info about those countries getting visa on arrival, but beware as later in the article it refers to a list of countries that can get get long-term multi-entry tourist visas since 2006 - as far as I am aware this has never been enacted.
The second article you refer to is pure speculation and misinformation and is entirely based on a current thread on IndiaMike, thet even credit it at the end. Both the thread, and the actual situation are still developing and scope of this new rule is very unclear, with many stupid assumptions being made at present. It may happen, probably will, but at present????
To put an URL up, right click on the address of the page you are looking at in the top box(the long box) -this will highlight it. Select "copy" in the drop down box. When you are in the reply to thread page, in the tool bar above where you type there will be a load of symbols. Below the "smiley face" is a globe/sunglasses. Get the cursor flashing in the main message area then click on this symbol. A box will open for you to paste (control\V) the location of the URL copied earlier. When you do this the Link will appear in the message box but be warned it will look weird at this stage, and much longer than it will eventually be. Make sure you have gone past the end of it before you start typing your message or you will corrupt the URL. After you have posted your message, the link will look how it should do and you can now test it to see that it works.
Have a try PJ, its nowhere near as difficult as it sounds........

story about the visa latest debacle in today's Herald
- points out amongst other things that both the Prime Minister of India and the Leader of the Opposition, if they lived in the US, would have trouble getting visas to India because they would be treated as 'of Pakistani origin' - both having been born in "parts of undivided India that are now part of Pakistan".
Oops!

Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Did you see the article in the Herald that says if we are here on a tourist visa which most of us must now be because of the withdrawal of the X visas, and leave the country we will not be allowed back in for 2 months. No quick trips out to comply with the 180 days if you have more than a 6 month visa.

MORE RAPES IN GOA
According to the Goan Voice there was an attempt to rape two Russian women at Anjuna in the early hours of Christmas Day. Apparently they got a taxi to go back to their hotel and were driven to a remote spot, where a motor cycle (two up) appeared as well- obviously sounds like a planned attack by the taxi driver and accomplices.
The two girls managed to run off but not before being assaulted with a baseball bat. They were turned away when they asked locals to call the police !
As for the response of KAMAT : He called upon the 'citizens of Goa' to stand up and fight against the foreigners who are 'trying to defame' Goa - what a muppet !!
(M.U.P.P.E.T = Most useless political person ever tolerated !!)
Dread - if the cap fits Kamat......

TERROR ALERT
US, UK warn citizens against visiting India
CNN-IBN
Published on Thu, Dec 31, 2009 at 08:28, Updated on Thu, Dec 31, 2009 at 08:46 in India section
'.....The US and UK advisories follow previous ones complaining about New Delhi's new visa regulations which require tourists to maintain a two-month gap between the time they exit the country and re-enter it.
Indian security agencies view the new alerts as "retaliatory". External Affairs Minister SM Krishna had on Wednesday dismissed the alerts saying that many foreigners visit and India and they need not fear.
"Let me scotch all speculative reports that India is a country infested by terrorists. I would like to reject this totally. You find thousands of foreigners who have been freely going about wherever they feel like. I would like to assure the foreign tourists, visitors and others that they don't have to worry about it," Krishna said in New Delhi on Wednesday.'
