Hey poppetjay,
You said :
"we have had 2 shipments to goa door to door and no problems the agent dealt with all customs"
Would you be able to give me the contact details of the agency which did the door to door service?
I have some domestic goods i need to move from uk to goa which will need custom clearance.
Between do you know whether the goods can be directly shipped to goa - vasco without going via mumbai.
Thank you in advance

If you need to ship anything from here to the UK please beware there is a shipping agent in panjim on the 18th june road, wil find out the name but my daughter had a few boxes shipped over paid over rps 45,000/-, it was supposed to go to Glasgow docks and went to Flexistow, all the import uties were supposed to have been paid by the shipping company here but of course werent, an she ended up with a huge headache of trying to get the shipping up to glasgow and paying another 400 quid for import duties. the phone is 08326453443 to be avoided like the plague

We shipped all our house contents to Goa last August (moved for good) and arranged a 40 foot sea container to wait outside our house while we loaded it ourselves. We did all packing and loading ourselves only paying for the sea container which cost £1200 (direct from our house in Hastings all the way to the port in GOA - not Mumbai - specify Goa- 'Mormagao' when booking ). Customs clearing we paid separately, and had to arrange ourselves, but was considerably cheaper than arranging it all from the UK end.
Please PM me if you require any shipping or Goa customs contact details. We have been there and done it!

Nobody in their right mind is going to ship all their belongings to Goa now, they would probably do more business going the other way.

You may not be yet but it wont be long, they are watching everyone, tightly scrutinizing every visa buisness or otherwise as we speak, a belguim guy has been to the police station ( 3 different ones was summoned) to submit his papers and interrigated/interviews he is totally legal and has been for the past 4 years, they want everything tax returns/all documents etc etc. so i should imagion they will get around to everyone in time, and the fact people renewing B visas are only getting 1 year ones with 180day clause...

That isn't a rumour - it's fact, I've seen the visa with my own eyes.

That's changed since November 2009 then because a contact obtained a 1 year business visa (which is what he asked & paid for) but the little green stamp stipulated 'registration only required if stay exceeds 180 days'

Who knows nowadays nothings in black and white all depends on how their feeling on the day !!!!! all i know is that most of my friends that have been here for years are losing lots of sleep and getting themselves prepared to pack up and go, starting making provisions for pets and belongings all very very sad and at their times of life its the very last thing anybody needs....
It is going to be interesting to see what visa Andy gets - hope it is a good one.

I am planning to ship some boxes to Goa and have been getting quotes but they seem to be too expensive, could you please PM me the company you used. As this is my first post I do not think i can use this facility yet.
Many Thanks

Ah but there are two '180 day rules' -
'...if stay exceeds 180 days'
and 'stay ... may not exceed 180 days'
