BOUGHT FROM HOMES FOR LIVING
#31
Hi Noni
Not a lot happening here just now, plenty of rain. The roads are a bloody mess, they are digging them up everywhere, putting cables in we believe for electrics and internet connections. Teama opened this weekend. Others are getting ready. I would say most will be open in another 2 weeks. I heard yesterday the beach as practically gone at Sinquirium, don't no if it's true not been. The boats still there, and no doubt it will be there this time next year
Might sound daft had a box of crabsticks today just like the ones I used to buy in the supermarkets back home 99/-for 10 worth every rupee, I love crabsticks, another bit of England here now.

Visited Coco Beach a few days ago, not much of it left unfortunately!
Your right Wen, the roads are a nightmare, especially mixing red mud with all this rain, when is it going to stop! I am fed up with having dirt up the back of my skirt! LOL

Hi Folks,
This is prbably a silly question but what has happened to these beaches?
Have they dissapeared for good or is it just because of high water that will soon settle down again?
Are they coming back or does nobody know yet?

A very good question in fact, the sand at Sinquirim has been washed away by heavy tides and stormy seas, personally I think that the ship has changed the wave patterns and tidal/current flow.
Last year we asked about Coco beach and the locals said that it too had been washed away by a very high tide, certainly the sea washes up against the stone wall at high tide, so the beach has either got lower or the tides are higher. The sand bar that gets uncovered at low tide is definitely bigger, great for some idle fishing. Therefore I believe that the sand that came off the Beach has gone there, also there is a beach across the river from Coco, that looks as if it has grown.

Will they return then when it enters the 'dry' season or have they vanished for good?

No I'm afraid not, it's down to rock now.
As far as I understand it only the monsoon storms really have the power to deposit fresh sand or carry it away, so until the ship is moved and the currents/tidal actions can revert to normal we won't know. With regard to Coco I don't have an explanation as such, could have been caused by dredging or anything else that has again altered the current/tidal flow.
The only way to put it back at the moment is for them to ship or truck in loads of sand and relay the beach by hand.
Of course I could be wrong about this, but it could be a case of actual land grabbing in it's most serious form, they could be holding it hostage until they recieve planning permission for all the agricultural land they own, you just never know with the Russkis, they may have smuggled it back to the Motherland where they have made it into artificial Goan beaches in their sun tan parlours, has anybody heard if a beach shack has gone missing as well?

I feel it is safer with the new rules to buy. One has to get RBI permision to buy which could take upto 6 months.... One can tye up witha developer with a 10-20% deposit that the deal is subject to the approval. The other option is to register a company for tourism and apartment as an asset of the firm which you must rent out in your books for an 'x' amount of time. The company should be a tax paying entity.
Rnjn
P.S. Don't hold me on above, but this is what I hear are the options. If you want hoest developers...I can point your in their direction.......I personally don't like ones who climb all over you...

Thanks for the feedback. I managed to get a PIO card. So fingers crossed it all sails through for us. We are hoping to go to Goa in second week of December to see the development and meet up with the solicitor.
Really looking forward to the trip since we have never been to India.

(You have read the Buyer Beware thread?)
and btw one of the things you can't do with a company owned house is rent it out!

Is that true about not renting a co owned house. I know someone who is buying a property for that purpose on a business visa.
