Re: 2 month out rule

Has anyone been given a six months tourist visa, in the last few weeks/ months. From any of the UK visa offices.

Or are they now only issuing 3 months.

Please post if you have a new 3 or 6 months visa.

Thanks.

Applied for & got a 6 month multiple entry mid November at VFS London Victoria. I am sure others have had same since.

Mine was prior to the new photo regulations etc:eek:

I dont know where they get their figures from as it seems on the surface a much larger number than 7%...I think they are underplaying the stats to allay any fears from the locals who are the ones suffering more than the politicians.

Quite so Chris, and how can they admit to a serious drop off in charters and then claim it is not only balanced by independant travellers but will show a substantial increase?
Clowed cuckoo land..........

Take a look at VFS and it clearly states tourist visas between 6 months and 1 year!!!

So why is all this 3 months visa thingy being quoted. It does not say anything about a 3 month visa. But then it is down to the Embassy who issue the visa not VFS.

We got a 3 months visa in Sri Lanka. Paid for 6 months though. We asked why and were told thats all we will give you. More or less saying 'If you don't like it go away'

If you are not in your country of residence 3 months is the norm. Bangkok may give 6 months - once!(But thats a risk) Malaysia and Singapore now only give to residents!

The 3 month thingy is being quoted due to an article in the Herald newspaper!!

We Brits are luckier than most other EU countries, where they only get a 3 month tourist visa, so perhaps we shouldn't rock the boat. Perhaps the Herald article was mainly referring to tourists from other countries.............

It probably was, as the British are clearly (from recent media reports) considered to be an unimportant minoritty.........

Yes there certainly is conflicting information on various websites including the HCI in London and the Visa service..on some its states 6 months and 1 year and on the other is says 3 months and 6 months...like everything here it all depends where you apply, who does the application and who knows what rules at the time...will it ever change or always be thus??
