A "tag", a bit like being on parole? Forget about making Goa your home, they want you out it's as simple as that. Visa issues will just get worse, wait and see. To be honest i'm glad to see the back of the place. Mrs Brinks Matt, if you live in West Kingsdown, you can easily afford to live in Goa. |

The term used was; Almost. I read that as a way of emphasising that they would go overboard on maintaining a record of where you are? The two month-out rule according to official sources originated from the Pakistani terrorist known briefly as Headley and his frequent visits to various parts of India, including Goa, to plot attacks. The response to this of course, is ridiculous........ As is the general reaction by some on IndiaMike, claiming that it is to stop "foreigners" living in India on tourist visas. There is absolutely no factual basis for this, other than their bigotted attitude to those who have worked hard all their lives so that they can retire to their chosen "place in the sun". Most of those pedalling this crap are Americans. And as we all know, the only place Americans feel comfortable retiring is.....America. Lets face it, when you have bombed most of the rest of the planet....well, your retirement options (security-wise) are limited. The attitude in Goa, fanned by their amazingly corrupt politicians,is that all the ills of the state should be laid at the feet of foreigners......well this may concur with certain IM saddos, but thats about all. As someone pointed out earlier, the two month rule originates from Dehli, far away from Goa's uniquely mega-corrupt system......so do the central government care about a few Brits trying to live in Goa? Of course not. What they do care about, as do most Indians, is losing face. And in the last couple of weeks India has lost enough face to last a lifetime, so don't hold your breath for a change in visa rules....cos it was daft to start with, and will appear even dafter on the world stage when (if) they withdraw it. Goodnight. . |

I understand that. I brought legal money in. I also had many people visiting, but it doesn't affect Goa's or India's economy. I've spent a "lot of money". It's a different league Baba. Goa's economy, black or whatever, first of all revolves around iron ore and land/property/development manipulation and the corruption that accompanies it. Who gives a sh!t about about a few thousand whities/farangs in Goa or India, with a pop. of 1.3 billion? You're lost. The only people affected are the locals on the beach belt. The good ones that I know will also suffer, but they are businessmen and will survive. I know Goans who would like to see a drop in tourist numbers to get rid of the hangers on, who you see on street corners, with their shiny new bikes everyday, claiming to be in the tourist business.
It's no good banging your head up the wall....... enough Your quite right "enough". They can stick the stinking dirty hole. One bit of good news is they have started "banning" them now from some hotels in Bangkok...doing the washing in the swimming pool! Well the machine is 30 Baht a time!! |

It appears that there are a couple of individuals on here that have made it their mission to constantly run down all things Goan and jump on any post that appears even slightly positive or upbeat. The same people have long since shown their true colours. I just don't understand if they hate Goa so much and want rid of it, why they spend so much of their free time on this Goa forum. If you don't like something change it and if you can't then change the way you think about it. |

Thanks Mitz - you got in before me.

Re: 2 month out rule
My guess is that they will review their "rules & regs" and come up with something like the competition in the holiday world. Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka all have some sort of "settlement" option. Don't know about Cambodia, Lao and Vietnam. Maybe along the lines of 1 month free on entry, 3/6 months on prior application, etc. etc. Whatever happens, they need to simplify their rules. Who knows, maybe a "let a few silly foreigners stay in Goa" option. I'll be there!
Anyway, the visa is for India, not specifically Goa, so don't hold yer breath on changes. |

By the way, we had Kosovans washing clothes in the local pool in England.

Pronounce Dikshit wrongly...you're racist. Discriminate against thousands of foreigners in property matters....you're not. Can any member truly say they're not being discriminated against, on racial grounds, by the Goan government. I am, and if I air my views, I'm racist. What crap.Don't you know, most Indians are taught about discrimination from the cradle, and practice it to the grave. It's called caste. I'll always pronounce Dikshit phonetically. Wally. Did these Indians not spit before you bought property there? If you have so much distaste for Indians then why move and buy property in India in the first place? A lot of members on here who are going through the worst of the property situation have NOT came out with offensive or dare i say "Racist" remarks, many who i have had the privilege of meeting personally. Strangely enough a few people on here( some under different guises) who are not directly involved in the property debacle appear to be the ones that repeatedly rant over Indians, their country and religion which makes me wonder what their agenda really is or how it is going to help expats retain their properties. Continually rattling on about how rubbish India is and how racist Indians are and how they are taking over britain etc etc etc.......well it does begin to sound very BNPish after a while especially when its repeatedly coming from the same posters. |
