No, I didn't say perfect - there is some discrimination
and a large portion of the population is still very poor
but outright violence and inter-racial/religious conflict
is practically non existant - and it's getting better.
We are good friends with a Creole family in Trou aux Biches
who have built up a very nice travel-based business from
practically nothing and we get a lot of unbiased inside info
on the island happenings.
Having said that - if you've never watched a Mauritian
Bollywood film (with all its clichés!) nor taken part in a
genuine local Sega on the beach in moonlight, then it's
time to visit!!
