They say it takes one to know another. I am not insane. I have come to realise since being here that I have well and truly joined the great British tradition of becoming an eccentric. How else can I explain coming here on my own and the many adventures I've had since. Like all adventures there are hair-raising moments but afterwards you can sit round the fire and laugh, knowing that you have truly lived as distinct from just existed.
I didn't need, nor could I get, a carte de séjour but there are little forms in the back of your cheque book which provide all the accreditation you normally need. You will also find that if you are purchasing a property this makes your status much more acceptable. But yes iti s advisable to have your passport with you and don't forget your car insurance has to be carried in your vehicle at all times.
