Hi everyone
Just wanting to ask a question about when you get your licence with Peer, Hubby has gone down to Adelaide today to go to Peer tomorrow and Tuesday to sit his exam, to all you who have your SA Licence how long did it take to come through..... we have been told that it can take about 4 weeks! Is this true and if so can you not work until you have this
Thanks
Gillian

I am busy putting my stuff together for the TRA (ARTC) and am also going to do the AS/NZ 3000:2007 via PEER VEET once I get to Oz (about 6 weeks to go) I cannot see the point of waiting for all the log book and regs. to get here and then carry them to Oz in 6 weeks. I was woundering if you have any advice for the trade experience etc. Only want to do it once.
What is the job situation like? I'm hoping to go to the Brisbane area or if that doesn't work out Adelaide.
Good luck with the exam,
George

Mark started the Peer process about 6 weeks before we left for Oz, Not sure the in's and outs' of it, will get him to reply to you and tell you everything when he comes back from Adelaide tomorrow. But the books never arrived until two weeks before we left, so we had to then carry them with us, and Mark took them in his hand luggage as he didnt want them going missing!
We have been here eight weeks, Mark was hoping to get the books done sooner, but this didnt happen lol, to much to see and do, and me and our 4 year old son had to go out and give him peace to do them.
In regards to jobs take a look at a couple of recruitment websites, that will give you an idea of what jobs are about. Click here and here
, these would be the two I would look at, I know there are jobs around the Brisbane area as we have been told if we cant get anything where we are that if we moved around the South Sunshine Coast or Brisbane there is plenty of work, but it depends what type of work you want, Mark has worked in industry since serving his time, he has work in a Power Station, Car Parts Factory and a Bottling Plant, and there are electrician jobs around Brisbane for both a Power station and production plants.
Good luck

Thanks Gill,
You have convinced me, wait untill I get there to do the course. Thinking of going straight to Adelaide ( after a few days in Sydney sightseeing) picking up the books etc. and do the exam after 4 or 5 days. I did the 17th in January this year and I am hoping it will be simillar.
Can Mark recommend some where to stop at (cheap and clean) close to the nightlife?
I started down the coal mines and moved to manufacturing, bearings, paint, pumps, and now bottling.
I spent 4 weeks on the sunshine coast July 2007, a beautiful place with great people but not many manufacturing factories.
Mark did you get Electrical fitter or mechanic?
Have you done your resuscitation competence? if so is there many places doing this training?
Thanks,
I will keep you informed of my progress.

Because all my work was industrial My ARTC was an electrical fitter.
Everyone says that is bad and you can't get work on it......Mate it's not the case......and if ya go thru peer you'll get and 'a' grade electrical license to ' carry out all electrical work '.......when you transfer this to queensland it'll equate to an electrical mechanic in qld.......What you need to aim for is the fitter / mechanics dual license...........this is what everyone wants but there is work out there for either fitter or mechanic.........once you have the license......no-one will touch you until you have got that magic license.
I would deffo recommend going to peer......2 days....1 day revision.....1 day test.......if you choose to do it in queensland then it'll take you a minimum of 6 months.........you'll need to do a logbook and attend the local tafe for about 4 hours every week...........it's a lot of bollox..............make sure and get your workbooks from peer......complete all the questions then book yourself on the 2 day course.......when you go.....go for 3 days.......you'll need the 3rd day to apply for your license.
You must complete the workbooks before you go or else they will probably tell you to **** off and come back when its done....lol.
click here for the link to peer and book your books / course.
It costs $855 aud for the course enrolment and all the books.....this includes your assesment days as well.
Regards

Hi! Just sent enrolment form off to Peers for the AS/NZ3000:2007 correspondence course, how long does it take before you get reply back from them as they havn't asked for no money or nothing yet or even emailed with a reply how long is it before I should get reply, I know i may be hasty but just want to get the ball rolling, many thanks all.

I contacted a person in peer called ricci catalano........she sent me all the prices and info and then told me to let her know, via email, if i wanted to go ahead with it.......I sent her all my details and paid via cc......10 days later I recieved my books.......not bad time considering I was still in uk.
