I need to apply for a new job, my resident permit had expired. I’m still in the process to get the new resident permit that allows me to live here for another 2.5 years.

How long does it takes to get the new permit after I complete my application?

Can I apply for jobs meanwhile?

Hi Ann. When you say 'my resident permit has expired', do you mean your initial spouse visa has expired and you haven't yet applied for Further Leave to Remain?

Yes, my first resident permit had expired on the 12th January 2020. I have started the application progress I already paid for it but I haven’t taken yet my biometric because I was waiting for my English test results.

I'm confused now. In a previous post you said your spouse visa was approved and your passport received in April 2018. Are you sure your visa expiry date isn't 2021, not 2020?

And OP does say in a previous thread that it's valid until Jan 2021 - worth double checking! Family Visas: EXTEND

Sorry I didn’t specify that the question is for a friend of mine, I’m so sorry. I’m just asking on behalf of her and I just put the questions as if the case was mine.

If you have applied early then do not attend your biometrics, cancel your application and seek a refund of your fees.

Edit: If you’re asking for a friend then get them to sign up and ask their questions themselves as it helps prevent miscommunication.
