Re: Delays in first passport for child born overseas
It takes about 2 weeks fr the result, might be quicker. So hurry up. Then it might take a month after that.
Can you tell me if you did anything to speed it up?lol
And are you naturalised as a British or you were born british?

I did everything normal
I'm British born
I'm trying to book DNA
Cost is average £550
They is 2 month delays in Pakistan to get appointments which is a setback
Ringing all the registered companies to see if they can get appointment for my spouse and child earlier

Re: Delays in first passport for child born overseas
Many thanks for your reply. i am currently in the UK where as wife and children are in pakistan.
* Can i apply for children passport in the UK or i have to apply in PAKISTAN.
* if my wife applies in Pakistan, at VFS office do they need my original British passport and colour photocopy at the time of submission of application or they just need colour photocopy of my british passport? it will be difficult for me to send my british passport to Pakistan.
Wife has pakistani passport so as children.

Also my pakistani passport has expired but i have nadra swift card. Do i need to submit my pakistani passports (Expired) or just photocopies are good enough to meet the requirement.
I really appreciate for people who are sharing their experiences and helping me with my queries.
Thanks Shakil

This is the site I was given
I have managed to book my appointment
The problem is I have they can not tell you when your wife or child appointment will be
I hear there is a back log
Most campaniles will not start a DNA process until they get a copy of a HMPO letter
Confirmation DNA is needed - but you can call them and ask

Thanks. Malik
When will you find out about the date of the appointment?
Im still waiting for any reply from them. Looks highly unlikely they will email about the passport being printed and despatched.

Re: Delays in first passport for child born overseas
Very frustrating time here for me - and getting worried about the now strange situation we find ourselves in
Applied for first UK passport for our 2 year old
We live in New Zealand - im British...born in UK to parents who were born in UK
My partner (not married) is Kiwi/Filipina...born in Philippines
From reading the rules on the GOV website. it looked quite straightforward that our daughter was British through me
We applied 2nd October expecting a 4-6 week turnaround
In november, we applied for my partners UK settlement visa (daughter wasnt added to this, as it looked straight forward she would be British)
The day after we applied for my partners visa, I rang for an update (6 weeks after applying)
Only then did I find out we needed a CENOMAR.....they said they emailed me mid October to advise....I never got this email, and to date no one has forwarded me this original email....
So we are 6 weeks down and I need to get CENOMAR
We get this and sent to HMPO...they receive 15th December
Just before xmas my partner is issued with her UK settlement visa (no mention of child even tho I put in cover letter advising UK passport may take longer than anticipated)
We have flights booked 25th Feb to start our new life in UK
Still no passport for my daughter - 14 weeks after applying and 4 weeks after they received the CENOMAR
Anyone with any knowledge know roughly how long this takes?
Note - they have my passport and birth certificate too!
I still dont get why they even need a CENOMAR - apparently as Philippines doesnt recognise divorce, if my partner was married before then the legal father of my daughter would be her husband - not me
Thats a Philippine rule though - not UK....why would that change the blood of my daughter??
Anywho, my partner hasn't been married before
We are very frustrated here - no where at all is a CENOMAR mentioned that I can see, so its just turned into a big waste of time
and now, if I need to get my passport back, of course, I need to supply prepaid envelope/send it from NZ...all up about $130NZD
For a passport they have kept for 3 1/2 months......I dont even know why they need me UK passport - surely everything on me is on file?
Im worried if we get to UK border
me on a British passport
My partner on NZ passport with a settlement 2 1/2 year visa
Our daughter on a kiwi visitor 6 months visa
This will undoubtedly raise some valid questions to us - what happens in 6 months if the passport hasn't been issued?
Im worried they will turn us around at the border!
