Well the old Canada for much nicer then the mean spirited Canada of today. The climate is terrible and the people like the climate in the cities are cold. Much of today's Canada has become a Police State. Time to head back home.
It's a place like other places and it's LARGE country that has been occupied by the French and then the English and now by the rest of world. The country has massive oil reserves in Alberta, however it dirty oil responsible for global pollution.
It's much nicer in some other parts of the world however lots of lolly here and opportunities if you have a brain.

Because Australia has only better weather, everything else is better in Canada:
- Cost of living way cheaper.
- Better housing.
- Bigger cars.
- Right hand driving.
- Less racism, more diversity.
- Less rude people.
- Better customer service.
- French.
- USA for vacations.
- Closer to Europe.
If I could go to the US, I would go there but it's impossible to get a visa.
PS: I live in Montreal.

I looked up Guelph as I had no idea whereabouts in Canada it is. Wiki describes the climate as:- "The weather and climate of that region of Ontario is moderate in both summer and winter"
I wouldn't class anywhere, where the daily mean is below zero, for four months of the year, as 'moderate'.

I had the option of moving to NZ, Australia and Canada because my job is "in demand". Chose Canada after a visit in 2010 as it was nice, closer to home than the other two and was close to the US for holiday's.
Now, after realising I have to in fact retrain to do my job and pay a lot of money to do so here, I'm thinking NZ or Oz would have been a better option!
If the US wasn't so hard to get in to, I would have loved to have gone there!

Thats funny however in Much of Toronto you need to know Mandarin, no one speaks French here. It's not the language but the state control of the population together with the lousy winters that's a problem. A horrid Ontario Civil Service that is competes with the French with respect to bad attitude. Oddly I too much prefer the USA.

I think I'll retract my +1.
