Provincial Nomination although there doesn't seem to be any shortage in the labour market for my husband's professional even though they say there is

He found 2 jobs he can do (And applied for) one in Calgary & one in Winnipeg.

The real problem is that most jobs over here don't get advertised ... I got my last two through networking ... workopolis and monster are just the tip of the iceberg

If an employer really can't find someone, they might also be willing to fast track him on an IT work visa ... once you hit Canada, you can then start the PR ball rolling.

Yes we know this, my husband has inside info on one ISP based in Burlington (Cogeco) but the cow of a HR woman won't give him the time of day. He also knows people within the company.

He's applied to this same job at least twice as they seem to have a vacancy of the same job every 3 months. He's now gone over her head We will see what happens.

Although I'm not going to be holding my breath, as I've ranted in another forum skills don't seem to matter very much to Canadian employers, it seems more down to who you know or what pieces of paper you can flash rather than experience and being able to do the job in a lot of cases...

Ouch....be careful - making an enemy of the HR woman will not help your hubby. He might end up getting ostracised by the people that matter on her say-so. This is not the UK, piss the wrong person off and you can be hooped in the whole community.

If you come to Winnipeg let me know - we have a smallish Brit meetup group where we meet at local bars and restaurants every two months. It's good to hang out with fellow expats to right the world's wrongs! We came over by PNP. It was bloomin' hard for my husband to find work at managerial level - in Winnipeg they like to recruit at entry level and people are very protective of their jobs - so coming in at a higher level becomes a problem. I had no problems though so I'm sure it depends on the situation. Good luck wherever and however it goes!

I've heard people refer to her as much worst, also he's been as nice as pie to her but she repays hims by not returning emails & generally ignoring him.
