Automatics are the most widely sold, however all of ours are standard (manual). Not everything is available as manual. What always made me laugh was GM lists the price of vehicles, plus extra for auto transmission, however they don't sell it in standard so you have to have auto.

You don't pay extra if only comes that.

If you can drive a manual or stick shift as they called it here. You can save a lot money on buying a used car.

Have not found that here. I had a real hard time finding them and the dealer was asking top dollar.

Autotrader has option for manual only seach and cars tend to be cheaper i should say in Ontario. all other provinces are more expensive for used cars. once you starting getting way from say Calgary. BC is the most expensive because the winters are milder to cars.

That's more a head thing. Automatics are find for city commutes and fact might be safer no proof really. I just prefer manuals. I find them better all round. especially in BC for those hilly roads and for over taking.

Yes you could be right with your comments being a head thing, like you just prefer them, so much easier to handle...

I think you get some sort of rebate if you buy a new car with a manual gear box?

Hmm, I probably should have done some research before I posted, but I remember when I was looking to buy a new car that the mini dealer in Yaletown said the government, not sure which one, would give a rebate on a manual as they were more fuel efficient. Might have just been bollox though.

yes the was a rebate program for some cars but not all. I believe that's stop now. it was 1000 bucks rebate. Honda Civic Automatics didn't qualify but the manual did. All Yaris did. But now its cash for clunkers which has almost stop that program. Or cash only deals. You can brand new accent for 9999.00 for instants.
