In total agreement. This must of been the best case scenario for the Lib Dem's so they now have their chance to shine.

My reading of the result was that the electorate had had enough of labour, but weren't quite willing to trust the tories without some kind of check. I suspect he'll be punished quite badly next time if he goes into a Lab/LD coalition after saying he wouldn't. It won't last either as they won't have a majority without getting the scots and welsh crack pot parties involved.

I was surprised the Lib Dem's lost seats.

Only because according to the various online media sources they had done so well in the TV debates.

Again according to my father if in certain key areas UKIP votes had gone to the Conservatives they would have done just about enough. I have not really looked at the results that closely.

From a purely selfish respect I think an outright Conservative victory would probably have given the exchange rate more of a boost due to planning more aggressive spending cuts.

Other than that I am enjoying watching the history be created.

It's not been a fair count anyway. There were masses of queues around the country with people being turned away at 10pm to begin the count!

I think voters didnt have a clue who to vote this year and all scrambled out to vote last minute, then ended up not getting to vote!

Make it stop....after years of whining on by all and sundry about how New Labour (whatever that is) wrecked the UK (the massive un controlled influx form the EU) the Brit populace gets its just rewards.

Whoever ends up running the show, rest assured it will be more of the same old bollocks. The UK is so far down the swanny, it really does not matter....and both of the main parties had a hand in that.

It’s certainly time for a brownout.....but no party has plans to sort out the immigration debacle. I will help them on that, as I will never be going back to the United States of Europe or is it Europé (Brit zone/province what have you).

Other than that without Immigration the UK will go to the dogs and someone has to pay the taxes.

That assumes that the electorate are quite sophisticated and were able to vote "en masse" for such a result. Reality is that most people vote for those their mum and dad voted for. If you asked most people what the differences in policies were between the parties, I suspect, they wouldn't be able to tell you other than: Tory = nasty, Labour = incompetent, Lib Dems = full of those that couldn't cut it in the other two parties

That's an OK point of view for you as you've made it out of the country... some of us are currently applying to get out and need a decent exchange rate!

Well, some of us are out and desperately want the British pound to fall against the Canadian dollar. It'll make my holiday back home much cheaper.

What's with this whole thing about Europe? Its an obsession for some people.

Europe passes some good legislation and some not so good. But on balance, I'd say good mostly.

Generally, countries all benefit from being a bigger market and having good common standards. And we can travel/work where we want.

So Brits can retired to Spain/Greece etc and Poles can come work in UK and do the shite jobs Brits don't seem to want.

Nothing. The EU is at it's best when it is acting as a counter-balance to the political capitalism of the kind you see in north america.

Try telling that to British farmers and fishermen (what`s left of them) and the 1.5 million or so claiming job seekers allowance (granted some of the latter are not interested in working).

Who by far is the greatest beneficiary of this EU malarkey, my guess is its the same as the largest recipient of Common Agricultural Policy funds, benefiting on a massive scale to the tune of 22% of a program that alone soaks up almost 1/2 the EU budget - France.

Why the hell should shed loads of Brit cash end up in EU coffers. I don't believe the average Brit ever had a vote in that. The EU started as a common market, perhaps it should have stayed that way.

Big waste of tax payer cash...add what is lost to the EU coffers coupled with recouping money from the MPs who fraudulently claimed expenses, hell the UK could break even one day before it sinks.

With 1390 members (both houses) in the UK Parliament surely that is enough.........to pass some good legislation. More chance of pigs taking flight.
