There, or by private importation. Still, that's a bit grim for the masses not in a big city and able to fly to Europe.

Instant Custard - I have never seen it here

My son brings these over for me every time he comes

Other than that, I can't think of anything you can't get here!

Practical...

Quilts and Quilt covers are really expensive here (IMO) and it is worth going to Argos and picking up a couple. Be aware that a King size in the UK is a Queen size here though.

If I can think of anything else I will add it

We are in BC but can get both OXO cubes and Bird English Custard, have seen Branston pickle too, the only thing we seem not to find is Tea bags without the orange pekoe flavouring!

The only thing I miss that family bring over is Malt loaf, silly things really but nevertheless look forward to visits from the UK!

Orange pekoe is not a flavouring but a grade of tea

My shopping list...

Gigantic bar of (english) Cadbury Whole Nut
Massive jar of Branstons Chunky Pickle (1Pd in Iceland vs $5.50 for a tiny jar of similar in Superstore)
Massive Jar of Squirty Marmite
Bisto Gravy (glass jarred meat juice variety - beef and chicken)
Brussels Pate
A nice sausage
Loaf of Kingsmill bread
Tinned Stewing Steak (Have to make my own now)
Fish and Chips out of the paper (Cod on the west coast is crappy)

One can dream but so far have managed to get by and replace things - just don't get the urge for Kraft dinner and Hamburger Helper yet! Kids have talked me into getting popcorn shakers (not for me thou!).

Almost 47 years here and still no urge for KD or Hamburger Helper, I think I'm immune by now.

Say hi to Matt for me will you.

Not been on here in a while - so having a lil lurk around today. Reading a good squabble on here always cheers me up. We'll be celebrating our 2nd anniversary on Feb 27th and so far so good - it's not come easy by any means but I guess you'll fight for what you want (thats why some folk on here make me laugh). The last year has been abit of nightmare for me as my dad passed away in July and I couldn't get back for the funeral so did something with my kids here (sure my dad don't hold it against me as he's no doubt along for the ride with us here in BC). Congrats on your 47yrs here - hope to do the same and make everyday special. Hope you and the family are well and your now fit after your surgery. All the very best.

That's because its not proper cod, its ling-cod, which is a ling not a cod. Go with the halibut or salmon, both are very good out here.

Welcome!

It's usually a bit more expensive, but it's the steak of white fish out here!

(Now I'm hungry!)

But still not as good as the cod back in the UK. And the chips here are awful.
