Yea, I have a female friend who did F Mc and she said it was long hours. She also said when she returned home she spent all her time doing banking, washing etc before going back.

She gained a lot experience and knowledge but it was a hard 4 months.

I didn't come to Canada to live that life but never say never.

Announced 200 jobs to go in Fort Mac with Suncor/Petro-Canada.
BTW have you ever been up there? Looks like one big chemical plant, well I guess that's all it is anyway.
The place is a little on the "lively" side, well, more like an old Wild West frontier town-with drugs!

Actually I think a number of those jobs were in Calgary. In the oilsands division. I think a lot of Petro-can's FMcM jobs went a bit earlier.

Yep, the project was Fort Hills and the site stuff was pretty much closed before Christmas. Some of the F.E.E.D. work was ongoing but that too has now ground to a holt as the decision on whether to proceed has been delayed "until commodity prices are at a sufficient level". I'd wager a fair few of the 200 were contractors.

It's not called "the Highway to Heaven" for nothing.
Should be called the Highway to Hell!

My Hubby is in Ft Mc.Money it is tough being away from family but it has slowed down compared to last year' i have heard Men are on their 3rd marriage too; mmmm its a scary thought but if your marriage is secure, you go where the work is and good wages too' wife will live with it. coming home after being away so long just makes you appreciate what you got back in home your comfortable cosy bed with a woman that excepts what our men have to do to provide a decent lifstyle
