Am hoping to go LCL with my belongings.
I brought a new guitar on a trip back home and brought it back in a soft case. Needless to say it got damaged. It may have been ok in a hard case though.

epiphone in a hiscocks, went in hold
emerged fine
I packed it also with wadded news paper, specailly round the headstock
locked and strapped the case at two points

(frets.com gave a good write up on this)

came out at the fragile, oversize baggage area

Glad it worked out. You can probably sell the case for a profit if you are patient, at least, the Hiscox Sax cases sell at a premium over here...

yeah cheers Ian,
I know it may not be the most top of the line guitar,
but I am well fond of it, also I had it tweeked up a little by a local guitar shop
and its starting to bed in nicely
