System Admin / Technical Support jobs in Toronto?

Hi Loki,
You are totally right - usually we have to move fast and can't wait for people to be able to relocate - or if we can wait, we still don't want to add the complication of the relocation - so much can go wrong. I tried to help people relocate when I first became a recruiter but found that I got burned each time - the candidates would use the contract job as a safety blanket, carry on looking for a permanent job and never show up - making me look bad with my client...
Out of interest, why are you leaving Vancouver to move to Tdot?
Allie

THANK YOU all for your helpful replies! I thought my husband would have a better chance securing a job from here because he was born in Toronto and wouldn't need to go down the Visa route. No doubt it's easier for employers to hire people that are local.
Allie: Thanks for your offer to help. I will pm you once we land in Toronto.
Tom: Good luck finding a job in Toronto

Hey Allie,
Yeah i did figure that was the case and to be honest can't blame you one bit. I knew that it wasnt my resume or experience due to the amount of calls I was getting from Vancouver agents. Anyway yeah i'm off to the big TO just to see it really bigger city etc etc just fancied seeing the placel. I think I actually may have spoke to you on the phone yesterday after posting my resume on Monster sorry about that!

Hey Tom, that wasn't me on the phone
A thought for you...put a Toronto address on your resume and use a call forwarding service to give you a local number. Many (internal and external) recruiters only phone screen and if you get a viable interview, you could just fly out there and not mention that you don't live there...
It could be a bit expensive but it would work...

How easy/difficult is it finding these kinds of jobs in Toronto? My husband would like to repatriate to Toronto later in the year, but his main concern is finding work. I have recommended that he apply for some jobs online, but I'm uncertain if employers would be willing to hire him without seeing him in person. Should we give it a go, or start the job hunt once we get there? We will have enough funds to get us by for the first few months. Thankyou.
