Bricklayer Jobs
Hi,
Can anyone help me with trying to find a job as a Bricklayer in Alberta?
Is it worth using one of the recruitment agencies who also arrange visas?
Are there any websites or newspapers which I should be using?
Also, I may have a chance of a job in Saskatoon. What are the opinions on this area?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Few builders use bricks out west, most houses are lumber frame construction. Now might not be the best time to be looking for a job in the construction industry.

Hi Mr. Mom,
Thanks for the message but as I do not have 3 posts I am not allowed to view it. Is there any other way of seeing your message?

What does a bricklayer do these days?
Do you have experience with concrete? Building steel framed warehouses etc? Laying slab? Bridge construction?
The housing market is down so the need for ornamental brickwork is down. And mostly it's just sticking phoney bricks to plywood.
If you do industiral stuff then Saskatchewan may be better for you right now - they are still drilling for oil and building oil and gas infrastructure.
PS I worked as a hod carrier many moons ago. Do they still exist, or is it all machines these days?
I wish I was that fit now!!

Hi,
Would really appreciate advice on whether best to get visa and job offer first or come out and try to find work personally.
Any particular companies I should try - would be willing to consider any area in Canada.

If you've got some spare cash and nothing to lose come on over.
Otherwise check it out on the internet.
Or if you've got some spare cash why not bugger off to Mexico for winter. It's warm and cheap there.
