£7k sounds like a sole-use 40 foot container. That's about 2100 cu ft - if you can get down to 1050 cu ft, it will fit in a 20 ft container that will be much cheaper. One of our quotes was for a 40 ft, even though we were only slightly over the volume of a 20 ft.

So our approach has been to contract for a 20 ft sole use container, and to prioritise our stuff on packing day so that we make full use of the volume.
