Refund for those in the backlog
#16
Why can't they put new applications on hold for x amount of time i.e not accept any new applications until the backlog has been dealt with?

I've just read the Vancouver Sun article. It looks like they'll all just be told to start again if they still want to apply. I think this is incredibly unfair! I know immigration isn't a right, but at the same time to mess about with people's lives like this is shocking!
Whoever you all are, I feel for you.

I think it is a despicable move on the part of the Government.
I encourage you to send comments to the Honourable Jason Kenney at [email protected]

I think it's because the recent ones have applied under the system that was created to fill the needs of Canada as it is now regarding skills and such like.

There will soon be yet another new system in place, judging by this media release: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/departm...2012-03-28.asp
The proposed new requirement would mean that applicants wanting to immigrate as Federal Skilled Workers would have their foreign education credentials assessed and verified by designated organizations before they arrive in Canada.

It would, if the Canadians were any good. My wife has worked as an Executive Co-ordinator since arriving, and has hired a couple of Canucks, with business and adminstration-type degrees no less. She only has a couple of A-Levels to name (about Grade 12 equivalent). She has also had to fire those "wunderkind cradles"; just not up to the job. I think the government doesn't want to admit that the cradles do not stack-up against the immigrants!

I know that none of the folk affected had a voice in the matter, but this is the sort of thing that happens if Canadians elect extremist governments.
I will temper that by saying that lack of investment and common sense prior to this lot taking over didn't help. But a prick like Jason Kenny is always going to get anything he touches wrong.

These people have put their lives on hold for the past four years, and have now been kicked in the teeth by Canada's "Nasty Party". No doubt the government will be including the interest it has earned from the fees of these applicants in their refunds. Oh my, is that a Gloucester White Spot in the sky? Or just a PC government minister?

Shit happens the world over. I was a few months away from moving to Australia at one point in time, the goalposts got moved by government and the opportunity went. No refund either.
