Propane and Heating Oil Prices
#1
After years of trying to predict price rises and attempting to ascertain if there was any actual correlation between crude oil prices and heating oil, gasoline etc I have (late in life) finally realised that oil companies long ago resorted to the 'supply and demand curve gouge' method of pricing their products. I don't use propane but understand that 30-45% price increases have occurred across Nova Scotia this winter due to shortage of supply. Just had my Heating Oil bill which shows a price per litre of $1.14 against $1.03 for nearly the whole of last year when crude oil was a lot more expensive. For some strange reason heating oil in UK seems now to be cheaper than here in Canada ! Anyone got a North Sea gas pipe handy?

Same in Ontario at the moment.
Paid approx $0.65 per litre (for propane) back in October, $0.85 just before Christmas. Some company complains that they can't get their stuff out of the States and cries about not being able to meet demand, my January cost goes upto $1.10 per litre.

For us, it doesn't really matter what the price of propane would be if they could deliver it because the tanks are under 15 feet of snow.
