Propane and Heating Oil Prices

After years of trying to predict price rises and attempting to ascertain if there was any actual correlation between crude oil prices and heating oil, gasoline etc I have (late in life) finally realised that oil companies long ago resorted to the 'supply and demand curve gouge' method of pricing their products. I don't use propane but understand that 30-45% price increases have occurred across Nova Scotia this winter due to shortage of supply. Just had my Heating Oil bill which shows a price per litre of $1.14 against $1.03 for nearly the whole of last year when crude oil was a lot more expensive. For some strange reason heating oil in UK seems now to be cheaper than here in Canada ! Anyone got a North Sea gas pipe handy? :(

Same in Ontario at the moment.

Paid approx $0.65 per litre (for propane) back in October, $0.85 just before Christmas. Some company complains that they can't get their stuff out of the States and cries about not being able to meet demand, my January cost goes upto $1.10 per litre.

For us, it doesn't really matter what the price of propane would be if they could deliver it because the tanks are under 15 feet of snow.
