I didn't eat for almost 5 days the pain was so bad.
Are you trying to wind me up JS?- just throw in a couple of " charley horses", a few " adrenal fatigues" and a "sensitivity to gluten" and I will go off in a sulk

No. I don't think so.

Donkeys years ago, early 70's , this happened to a girl I worked with . They were not only in the sides of her mouth . They were on her tongue and down her throat somehow. She was in a dreadful state .

My growing pains were not like cramps . They were deep incredibly achy aches.
Bugger all worked.

I'm desperately trying to remember any other old 'medical' phrases that were in common use .

I was being vaguely flippant ....... It isn't the conditions, it is the ridiculous names that I have an issue with btw

More or less describes what I had, I still have scars on my tongue from the sores.

As for where canker sore name came from, no idea, it's all I have know them to be called including doctors (US/Canadian schooled). I have also heard the term charley horse but not in eons, my great uncle who was a doctor used the term...ha ha (he is dead and would be like 115 now, so yeah he was an old time doctor.)

I have suffered from achy pains mostly in my lower legs for most of my adult life, hard to describe except the lower legs where the bone is aches, doesn't seem to much muscle in the front of the leg, but what do I know, I just know they ache and have for as long as I can recall as a late teen/early adult.

Splitting headache. Tennis elbow - seems inappropriate for non tennis players. Dartitis similarly. Black man's pinch.

Everybody here gets strep throat, we just called it 'a very bad sore throat'.
Oh any why is everyone allergic to sulfa? I'd never heard of this back in Blighty and here it's a common reply to "do you have any allergies?"
So many things ******* annoyed me working here it's a good job I'm retired.

Horrible antibiotic- so many people are allergic to it. I try my best to not prescribe it if I can

Something that I am allergic to. It was in tablets I was prescribed...can't remember what for. I was covered in itchy hives...even between my toes.

Because there is a high allergy rate with the horrible stuff. It is very rarely prescribed in the UK and hasn't been for years. Trimethoprim, half of the antibiotic Bactrim - sulfamthoxazole/ trimethoprim is the antibiotic commonly used for simple UTIs and doesn't have the allergic issues

In my 30 odd years of asking about allergies I'd bpnever come across sulfa. And yet as I said before it's a common reply. still I'm retired now, I mustn't let these things annoy me.

It arrived today, from the UK. One week after I saw it. Customs slip completed, the lot.

The box it came in is 7"x5"x3"...for the small tube.

I've had strep twice in the last year. The second time my fever hit 103 and Mr Schnooks took me to the hospital, it was such a bad case. My tonsils were massive and covered in gunk. Swabs by my GP confirmed it was the strep virus. I was in pretty bad shape both times. A week of amoxiclav got it back under control, alongside a steady stream of ibuprofen to keep the fever at bay (when it wasn't spiked at 103, at least!). My doctor has said if I get it a third time in the next year or so that she's going to refer me to an ear/nose/throat specialist to see about getting my tonsils removed... so far so good, though.
