Polysporin cream

Hi,
I have now returned to UK and I would like to obtain some Polysporin cream.
This is not available in UK.
I have a friend in Canada who could send it to UK, but I am concerned about the customs regulations.
ie, can it be exported from Canada and can it be imported into UK ?
Thanks.

Polyfax in the UK is the same or similar ingredient as Polysporin I believe, bacitracin/polymyxin B.

Thanks Aviator.
I don't think it's quite the same, and it's only available on prescription .
Didn't want to bother the doctor.
The Polysporin I like is the Polysporin Complete , which is a bit different to Polyfax.
Thanks .

I'm pretty damn sure therefore that you can't - got to say there isn't much difference. Spectrum of activity will be pretty much the same. If you do have money to burn then...

Take the tube out the box, if necessary wrap a bit of tissue around the thin end so it's not too thick one end and too thin the other and put it in a jiffy envelope.

It's your favourite marker pen you left behind and your friend is sending it on. ;)

I've sent over a couple of tubes of Ozonal to someone in the UK who wanted them, and I've had savlon sent over to me a few times too. Did always wonder wether it was ok to do it, but I don't think either are prescription only

I've also wondered about Savlon!

There was a time way back when you get it here. I even had to have a shower with Savlon liquid in hospital in the late 1970s before an operation.

How much do you want?

Got visitors coming from Canada next week, could get them to bring some and send it down to you

I don't understand your post with this. A canker sore is perhaps an old-fashioned term. It means a very painful sore in the mouth but not a herpes virus sore which is different. When I hear the term , I understand what it is. I've had to suffer with outbreaks of this on and off since a small child . One day nothing . Next day a nasty blister.

I have never heard this so had to google. When I was young I used to get absolutely dreadful "growing pains" . That is what it was called back then & that is what the GP called it back then. These days it has a fancy name but that ache and pain is likely just the same. Horrible.

Uk name both used by the General public and indeed medically (both here and in UK) are apthous ulcers. I had never heard of the expression canker sores before I came here. It sound like something a horse might get, along with a touch of the vapours, or a bout of dropsy

Re growing pains, I'm not sure what people are complaining of when they say this- why would young people experience such a thing? They get age related knee pains due to patella surface issues.. had you been kicked in the legs by a horse who was grouchy due to canker sores ?

I know. I suspect it is an old-fashioned term .

Why indeed. I was a normal active healthy child with a balanced diet.
For me it was a very 'deep' painful ache along the length of the shin bone ( tibia) , either in one leg or both. Nothing would ease it. Nothing. Note that I wrote along the shin bone. It was very different to any muscle ache I ever had. It came and went without any obvious triggering factor. It seemed to come from within the bone itself.

We were told I would grow out of it which I did in the end I suppose.

Neither of my siblings had this.

I thought 'Charley Horse' or similar was just cramp? My eldest certainly suffered from what her GP called growing pains when she would apparently shoot up in height very quickly. Who knows, who in fact cares, really? ;)
