They asked about parrots, and like it or not they got some decent answers. Sometimes in life you have to take the rough with the smooth, and sometimes you need to have a slightly thicker skin to do that. No rules were broken, I dont see any "personal abuse", just smart arse parrot related jokes and some well meaning advice to lighten up.

This thread is no different to half the threads in the Canada area, in fact in terms of useful information, it may even be better than average.

What a brilliant thread, and all from an innocent, asking an innocent question. It's really developed into a thread that has everything, good advice, bad advice, jokes, flounces, a bit of everything including the inevitable grammar pick ups. Well worth a read by everyone.

I wonder if the OP has even asked the parrot if it wants to emigrate.

Since that's impossible, or improbable at least, might I suggest that dbd33's response to the metric parrot concept, I quote, "pieces of ten, pieces of ten" is the single most karma-worthy contribution?

I nominate 'fletcher m' to be given the honor on everyone else's behalf, for several karma worthy contributions. (I hope I actually gave him karma)

I was first going to put "pieces of 3.6288, pieces of 3.6288" but then I thought a joke about how nothing metric ever comes in exact units combined with one about the cliched mannerisms of exported parrots would be a bit complicated and play to a very small crowd.

Ah, I see your taste doesn't run to subtlety.

I know though that we don't live in a parrotocracy.

...and you'd have been right. At least choose a properly irrational number.

e is always a handy standby in such circumstances.

No, dbd33 was much too subtle for me. (I read it as 'eight', victim of my expectations)

I think being a victim of our expectations is quite normal for us ex-parrots.

Most in the 'Moving back to the UK' thread would agree.
