Hi,
Why don't you speak to your/a vet and see what they advise? I don't know how realistic it is (not knowing much about the parrot world) but are they able to sedate parrots?
Apologies if this is a ridiculous suggestion.
Alternatively, play it some relaxing music e.g. The Birdie Song (I don't apologise for that one)
Good luck.

Is it a metric parrot? If it is, it wouldn't be compatible with anything in Canada.

Lighten up a bit man, see the funny side and laugh along with us, take the important bits that are useful and chill....this is not a quantum physics lesson.

I think its incredibly inconsiderate to force other passengers to have to sit near an animal in a closed space for eight or more hours. Put it in the hold or don't bother taking it.

Can it not fly alongside the plane? If you get a window seat you will be able to encourage it by holding up little bits of whatever parrots eat.

So we have come doen to two places we'd like to move to, on eof them being in Europe, the other being in Canada. Now we have a parrot which we could easily transport in a car through Europe, however if we decide on Canada I have no interest in leaving him in some dark place below the plane where he will probably have a heart attack. So I was wondering if anyone knew about airlines that allow parrots in the cabin. Bear in mind he is a very small parrot bread about the size of a cockatiel, so would easily fit under a seat in a plane.
Thanks for any advice!
P.S.: I have no intention on leaving him behind, so please do not suggest this!

It would have to pass through security and maybe pass a pollygraph. If it was a duck at least you could put it in pastry and carry it with you.

It won't be 'below the plane' , at 36000' that would be too cold (around -40c), but maybe in the hold, which is heated and some areas have lighting.

On reflection though, if the parrot ever makes it to Canada, it'd probably do better than my students in that class.

When we used to walk the dog beside the bike, we'd attach it by the lead to the bike. Could you do something similar with the parrot and the plane? See National Lampoon's Vacation for an automotive example...
