i've just nipped to Canadain Tire and bought a Digitron DV-029. It will play the odd UK DVD (concerts and one offs), but it won't play, say, a DVD of Dad's Army. Does anyone know if there's an easy solution to this? I have looked on various websites but can't find a hack code/sequence for this model.

I found this quote from a post about 2 years ago:
Don't bother with Walmart go to Canadian Tire. I bought a a Digitron model DV 029 for CD$39 and it plays all regions. There are no code to press in, no keys sequence just plug and play. It is HMDI and works a treat. It does not say anything about multi region on the box but does on the inside literature.
Why won't mine work when this one apparently does?????

It seems the way to go would be to spend the $50 to $60 for those mentioned and use the one you just got as a spare for non UK DVDs.
The Digitron I had most recently (and the one before) look absolutely identical to that one in the link and were the same price. As a matter of fact I still have the last one, not thrown out yet.
I can find a model number on it - SW22001 - but that doesn't fit with anything on the link as far as I could see.
I'm guessing that the $30 players may involve a bit of pot luck as to whether it will be reliable. No surprise there really.

I've often read the advice of seeing what models are available, checking the hacks on the links supplied and buying the player.
Home and dry.
Or not.
I've just inherited a Toshiba SDK770 and I looked up the hack details.
Nice and simple.
Except for one tiny thing.
There is no feature to input a code.
The set up button (no other button brings up anything) brings up half a dozen options and each of those has their own option. All you can do is select from the options supplied. I even tried the numbers after opening the tray as if there was some secret feature not displaying.
So what guarantee is there that a hack listed will work?

Turn on, open tray, input a 4 digit code & zero for region free. Close tray, turn off.
Turn back on and away you go.
