Red face Multi-Region DVD player

Hi All

I'm looking for a cheap, straightforward, multi-region DVD player. It doesn't have to be 5:1 or anything fancy. Can anybody give me a make and model of one that they have bought that fits this brief please. Also, where did you buy one and roughly how much was it. I've been into Future Shop and they didn't think they stocked one - which surprised me. When I went into Walmart they didn't even know what multi-region meant!

Many thanks

Plenty of threads discussing this, I however have just bought one from amazon.ca as I could never get sorted with cheat codes to bypass region block. This is what I bought Panasonic DVD-S38 Progressive Scan DVD Player just waiting for it to be delivered but appears to have had good reviews

Thanks for the reply; I'll look it up. Did you buy it because it's multi-region? May I ask what the general cost was?

No-one in Future Shop, Best Buy or god-forbid Wallymart will have the faintest idea about multiregion. If they do, they can't sell you one because most DVD players don't officially do multiregion. Google multiregion dvd hack and you'll get a plethora of websites that give hack codes for various models. Price one out, buy it and jobs done.

We got this one from Canadian Tire, it says Region 1 on the box but it plays all our UK DVDs just fine with no hacking required

Recently bought the I View-500KR from London Drugs - 59.99. Works just fine and no codes required.

I can't say for sure it's an identical model but we've had two Digitrons at that price from Canadian Tire and neither played UK DVDs.

Nip into the shops and not what model DVD players are currently on sale then use this database to see if there's a hack available to make it region free.

nip back and buy a one that can be converted.
