Hi, we were there from Sept-April, and have mixed views.
We would advise staying away from the East of the Island - really is nothing there, and the roads are like roller coasters!
The area just outside Cornwall near Charlottetown is nice, rural but only 15-30 mins from everything in Charlottetown.
Prices are higher, except for red meat - always cheap, veg was dear no idea why they grew most of it all over the island!
Be careful if you are too far out in the country some roads are dirt and will not get cleared in the winter and they can be cold with the strangest types of rain we have ever seen.
We would not go back but we think that it was too much of a difference - we are from Manchester originally and although we wanted a more rural life, PEI was a bit too much.
As for the people 50% were the nicest people we have ever come across and 50% well they were the other end of the scale but you get that anywhere.
Also not much there for the children, yes lots of green and pretty beachs but the other stuff - parks and things
Good luck and hope it all works out for you

We visited PEI for the first time this summer. Personally, I think it is too quiet for me but then we moved from very rural Highlands of Scotland for a more 'lively' existence.
To the OP different places will suit different people at different times in their lives and the saying that the grass is always greener is true. There is no doubt that PEI will have some advantages over NS.
Good luck whatever the future holds.

We still love it here. Even the snow. The people are amazing. I had to go into hospital for the first time ever, and the care I received was second to none. It actually restored my faith in human nature, as everyone was so lovely especially my doctor. Yes it may be too quiet for some but for us its lovely and wouldn't ever consider going back to the UK.
