Hi Maple Leaf (hi Alvic too!)
I'm glad you've settled well on the island, it seems like such a lovely place (well what I've seen so far). If only I could suddenly come into about a million dollars I'd love to buy a place there - I particularly liked Cowichan Lake and Cowichan Bay. Where in SK is your husband from? My husband's family is originally from Yorkton (though he was born and brought up in Kimberley BC) and he spent all his family summer holidays there for years. I hope that we'll be in a position to be semi-retired in 5-10 years of moving because there's such a lot of Canada to explore.

hello!......the second photo is at Marble Mountain in Nove Scotia...unfortunately it isnt' one of mine....i found it on google..but isn't that a lovely beach.......
My husband was born in saskatchewan and moved to BC over 20 years ago to kelowna. We moved to the island about 2 months ago, for work and personal reasons, it was the right deal for us. Also it has worked out very well! We are realy enjoying it here.
People do talk about the rain in Vancouver i personaly dont' know much about it. However...i am told the rain situation in Vancouver is not here where we are...and i have to say we haven't seen that much rain since we have been here. I do beleive the winters are normaly quite wet...which i would prefer the drier winter with snow..than the wet winter with pelting down rain. I haven't had a winter here yet..so time will tell....but who knows huh..the way mother nature is confused at the moment the poor dear..anything is up for grabs at anytime with the weather.
i will say Victoria is growing on me aswell...i realy enjoy it when i get down there ( we are about 50mins north) esp James Bay area..i have a friend who lives there....and was down there just yesterday....*S*.....
Have you been to Nova Scotia..it does look lovely in the photos...and i have a friend from New York who took a holiday up there a few years ago..she said it is vay pretty ..great scenery and animals..etc....

Yeah - NS is lovely - go for Halifax! Easy to navigate, lots going on, lovely harbour (touristy but less than Victoria) beautiful city; lots of 2nd hand bookshops; you could live in Dartmouth and get the ferry across to work! - whch is superfun...! Check out the fogs; a little depressing. Otherwise wonderful. And lots of history - Pier 21, the citadel, various oldy old churches.
Kingston is also very nice and waterfronty but I don't know anything about living there.
Although not near water, Saskatoon really is Canada's best kept secret from immigrants - cost of living is nothing (though house prices are on the rise now, utilities, phone, car insurance are all govt-owned and less expensive than privatised) and it's a lovely city once you get the hang of it. The winters are a little bracing I admit...but that's part of the fun!
Kingston is also very nice and waterfronty but I don't know anything about living there.

Yeah I agree as far as Sakatchewan is concerned. I know you are talking about Sakatoon but we are going to Regina. The people are so friendly and helpful.
How long have you been there?

he was born in Prince Albert. his parents moved there from winnipeg to start a business.
i went out there 2 years ago. can't say i was that impressed with the place..however...there are plenty of people who live there that love it, and the shopping was cheap cheap cheap. we then went to saskatoon i realy liked it there..we also stayed at Canora...have family there....it was a quaint little place..with very cheap housing and friendly people.... also we stopped at places like Regina and Moose Jaw? i think it was called.....it was great to drive across..and at least experience it that way instead of flying over....which we might do next time we go across

i spent a night in Calgary each way.....would like to explore it a bit more....
