Hi all, how did you decide which part of Canada was best for you before applying, ( do you have to state which part you want to go to?).
We are looking for somewhere historical near water pref beach. Any info greatly recieved!

There is no history in Canada
Seriously though, Its an impossible question to answer...if you doubt that enter "Iqualuit" into the search box here and see those who have passed down this path before
The best advice is get a general feel for the geography, climate and variation in the cost of living across the country, and then go where you have the best chance of finding decent employment, as that's really the key to successful immigration 99% of the time anyway.
You have to out something on the application, but unless it a provincial nomination, generally no one is going to hold it against you if you change your mind (but Quebec might be a bit different)

Ditto what he said....but just to add. There does not appear to be much of Canada that isn't near water.

seems to me just about everywhere is historical....Victoria on Vancouver Island tho has lots of history attached...also..it is on the ocean.....beach?
also there is sooo much to do in Victoria..always some festival ..market...museum exhibit.etc to go to...>
http://tourismmall.victoria.bc.ca/101ideas.htm

over here they call the shore line along the lakes etc the beach.? to me that isn't a beach.....but..a lake or river shoreline....so when talking of beaches...it may need to be clarified...

a lot of it is greatly personal choice..i have been told tho that Nova Scotia is a pretty place etc...what the weather and tornados are like tho i am not sure..????

I'll disagree with that. You just have to know where to find it. As far as I know, people have been living here for 10,000 years. A pretty significant history.
And then it depends what kind of history your looking for. About an hour and a half drive east from Calgary the earth has been carved out by by a river revealing millions of years of history.
If you go about that far west of Calgary, another result of geography has pushed a sea bed 1000's of feet above sea level. The stuff you find in there didn't happen yesterday either.
So...
We have plenty of history here. It just doen't come in the form of castles.

that he placed next to his statement.Sometimes you have to know a poster's history on the forum to appreciate what they're saying.
Sometimes you have to understand British humour.
And often there is just no hope at all of understanding what's going on.

I hope I didn't come across sounding PO'd.
It just seemed like a good op to clear up what seems to be a common misconception.
Sorry.

Irinic wink missed. Canadians...so sensitive. I wind my wife up all the time with that one. Yes yes yes, first nations blah blah blah. Its not Warwick Castle or the Tower of London is it.
Canada, A+ for geography, C- for history

Not at all, well maybe a little tiny bit.

Even though Iain was most likely poking fun you are absolutely correct there are many who feel we have no history here.

Funny.
When we were in England last year we stayed with a friend who wanted to come here because of all the history.
Thinking about Warwick castle and tower of london myself I said, "History???"
Then he goes off about first nations and natural history

Not so different from Biiiiink.
Looked at climate, picked hottest/driest then took a trip to see which town/city offered the best opportunities from economic, social, recreational and overall lifestyle perspectives.

We didn't really consider WHICH part of Canada. Came here, liked it.
Since then though we have looked at various other parts (TV, internet, weather channel etc) and been VERY glad we chose here.
Here's another reason ....
ps yes that is fresh snow - pics taken yesterday!
