As an authority on such issues, Deer Hunter, what's your take on DeNiro's character in the film? Is he gay or is his inability to shoot the second stag somehow symbolic of impotence brought on by his tour in 'nam?

My friend (a lesbian) thinks that he can no longer get it up but I take the view that, if he was straight, he would have banged the bridesmaid early in the film rather than given her Rolling Rock.

Nope. It's just that I saw the film again recently (thanks to zip.ca) and have been considering these issues since then. I think it's a fine film but the DeNiro character is ultimately unconvincing.

The winter here in UK is nippy, indeed. We're even having frost at night. I don't mind the cold but the humidity is killing me.

I wish I was in T'ronno right now as the winters there are drier and not so damp. I can stand the cold out there much better than in UK.

Anyway - I hope it won't be years but only a matter of months before I'm out there.

Yesterday was -27C with the windchill factor and 2day not much better...wish to reconsider??!!:unsure: Hurry back before the cold is gone!:)

Used to it. Strangely enough. -25 in T'ronno isn't as bad as -25 in Sweden. As I said - drier type of cold.

Mind you -4 in UK feels like -40 anywhere. ARGH!

Apparently we're getting snow on thursday. Yesterday felt like spring was here.
