This shows BC's average weekly earnings are below the national average. Sitting 8th out of 13th on the list. Very poor showing.
Earnings, average weekly, by province and territory

Someone with a crystal should have told folks to buy in 2012 in the slump before the prices went back up again & they are level off, go back down again or continue to go up is anyone's guess.
Forecasts, trends and analysts views don't mean too much, or do they?

Not sure how you extract plumbers pay from the data? It is a province wide stat of median pay for anyone on payroll. Self employed would not be included. By what plumbers charge, they seem pretty well paid compared to many.

Work BC places the average range at $53,000-$66,000.
27/hr average on the low end, not too bad really.

Not plumbing but I've thought about electrical, I just need to get better in math.
Not sure if I'd be good at it though, I am not very good at building things/fixing things, but the thought has crossed my mind before that it might be a possibility.

Re: misery at Vancouver housing cost?
its going mad, totally mad, the Vancouver housing market that is ...
VANCOUVER — Metro Vancouver remains one of Canada’s hottest real estate markets with prohibitively high prices, but the probability of a market correction remains low, according to a new assessment by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.
“It’s always been one of those markets that’s had a higher average price, but high average price in and of itself isn’t an indicator of overvaluation,” said CMHC chief economist Bob Dugan.
