The high rate of Diabetes in NA is due the fact that first nations people have a much higher incidence. (similarly the higher than normal incidence of diabetes amonst east indians living in the uk increases the overall national rate).
Yet another curse visited on the local populace by europeans insisting we know what the best diet and way of life is for ALL.

We tried the chicken breasts when they were on offer - errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Very dodgey texture - rubbery and chewy, not very chicken - like - errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Spoilt a good home made curry.

Hey Guys, they done a promotion last year, with a case of Bud Lite you got a voucher for 2 of their steaks. The way we were drinking I think we ended up with 48 steaks. My Brother inlaw put some on the barbie, OH my god they were RANK tasted proccessed, rubbery ,thus when we got out of my sisters I had to take them with me. The only thing they are any good for is a stew or Door Stops

Surely one wouldn't expect steaks given away with Bud Lite to taste of anything.

We're really lucky as in Airdrie we have a FANTASTIC butchers. All the meat is hormone and nasty stuff free. They also do cold meats, organic salmon and nice cheeses as well.Personally, except for the steak and salmon,I don't find it that much more expensive than the supermarket. They also do british style bacon, one of the only things I miss.

My 17 year old stepson went to a party recently. He's not much of a drinker but seemed quite impressed that one of his mates had done a 24. I asked him what the beer was. Ah. Not really all that impressive, then.

Its kit food, full of additives and chemicals, Unfortunately like a lot of the food here is. Why cant you just buy cream, without the chemicals? Why does butter,- apart from Kawartha Dairy taste rancid?? Why are all the deli meats riddled with sugar. Oven fries, coated in sugar? blah blah
By real food here, raw meats, fresh veggies, eggs, and pick your dairy products carefully and you can eat very well. - but you have to read the labels etc.

Even then it's all very complicated. You cannot, for example, buy what we would consider to be free range eggs and I'm sure you know about the legal problems of the raw milk vendor.

Oh yes, watched that with interest. Its hard to buy meat without antibiotics and growth hormones, though i gather its illegal to use them in pigs but ok for cows, chickens and lamb?

We move out next Thurday, inshallah, and in next Friday. Right now I'm sitting here in Toronto polishing my blue school bus "Right to Choose" protest badge.
Rusticism isn't likely to hit hard until April, we have to go out west then and so won't start getting animals until we come back. At first it'll just be chickens with the inevitable horses to follow after the first cut of hay. In the short term we'll just be adjusting to life on a well and a septic with wood heat.
Come anytime to party, bring news from the outside!

Green coleslaw? Are you sure you were at M & M? They only sell frozen stuff - at least the stores here do. You can't freeze coleslaw! KFC has some mushy green coleslaw, maybe you were there by mistake!
And I am with Biiiink - if they don't take of that wretched ad where the woman is making some meal and the "boys -- boys" are hiding in the attic - I will throw up! Thank goodness for the "last" button on the remote!
I bet that particular ad has been on TV a billion times since Christmas alone!

My reference to green coleslaw was me going off the M & M topic (slightly).

Well, my mother's worked in meat rooms for 40 years, and met my father in one, and neither of them have ever gone shopping for anything from M&M, sooo...
