Like I said, the US and Canada are growing apart as societies.
You are right about one thing though; the US and Canada are not getting further apart geographically.

I will agree that there are plenty of extremely fat people in the USA and Canada. I'm prepared to believe that there are lots of obese people in the UK, although I think it must be a regional thing. I've just spent the best part of three weeks in the SE of England and I really didn't see all that many fat people. Not young ones, anyway. Nor in Spain or Italy, where I also was.
Canadian hip has less to do with fat and more to do with bone structure. It's to do with girls that are generally quite slim but have hips that can take out a door frame.

Rankings for the fattest countries:
1) USA (surprise)
2) Mexico
3) Britain
4) Slovak Republic
5) Greece (too much greasy food)
6) Australia
Canada isn't even mentioned:

Presumably they intended "USA" to include Canada.

I have never heard the leader of a major political party tell the US ambassador to Canada off like Harper has - that doesn't make for a warm relationship. Harper first told David Wilkins to stay out of Canada's election and then he told him off about how the PM gets his mandate from the people of Canada rather than from the US ambassador.
