This forum is useful, but you can't reliably base important life decisions on a handful of people who haven't got anything better to do for a few minutes per day - accept the factual stuff as accurate, it usually is, but opinions are just opinions.

It's not easy though. I am much more aware of the pitfalls now because of what I've read here and for that I'm grateful but it is important to keep everything in context and you are so right to emphasise that opinion is just that and nothing more.

I agree with Glaswegian - only you and your family can decide if you like Canada by actually living here for substantial amount of time.
We all have differing views on this board - some hate the UK with a passion, and some wish they could escape from Canada and return. Some have had bad experiences in the UK, some have had bad experiences in Canada - the list goes on. Everybody has a preference, and if we were all the same, life would be a little boring. You don't know until you try, life is what you make it.

I was wondering the other day what I am still doing on this forum, I've said just about all I want to say - but they are addictive, I try leaving the thing alone, but I'll be back a couple of days later to see what the latest controversy is

Emmigrating is stressfull enough when it is a familly decision, if you are not both fully in agreement I suspect it is a project doomed to failure.
My 2c

but it has become me to chose as my wife cant and as its down to me to restart my business and provide our income as at this moment my wife is out of her career which she hates so i suppose i may have to take the leading role as she doesnt disagree with the for my reasons for wanting to leave the uk. under stand you view though and thats the biggest problem i want to leave she doesnt but she doesnt want to return to her career so i really am stuck.

I'm not a Liverpool fan, but I'd prefer it if Owen played for an English club than elsewhere in Europe !

Wasn't there a thread recently, that said "money talks"? Am sure Owen will rather go somewhere that offers him more, nice climate, good food, night life, just like Beckham, than stay at liverpool.
Football has a very short life span for most players, you have to make the most of it while you can. Look at the west brom player going to jail for 6yrs, couldn't have seen that coming before he killed the old man, speeding in his £100k merc, sad thing, this guy use to be a roofer, before he got into the big time !
