I use mapquest (www.mapquest.com). I've found the timings to be pretty good. The directions in full are:

Total Est. Time: 1 hour, 1 minute Total Est. Distance: 43.81 miles
1: Start out going WEST on 103A AVE NW toward 100 ST NW. <0.1 miles
2: Turn LEFT onto 100 ST NW. 0.4 miles
3: 100 ST NW becomes MCDOUGALL HL NW. 0.4 miles
4: MCDOUGALL HL NW becomes LOW LEVEL BRIDGE NW. 0.1 miles
5: LOW LEVEL BRIDGE NW becomes CONNORS RD NW. 0.1 miles
6: Take the SOUTH SCONA RD. ramp toward EAST 98 AVE. / 99 ST.. 0.1 miles
7: Stay STRAIGHT to go onto SCONA RD NW. 0.4 miles
8: Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto SASKATCHEWAN DR NW. 0.5 miles
9: Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto 104 ST NW / CALGARY TRL NW. 2.0 miles
10: Stay STRAIGHT to go onto CALGARY TRL NW. 2.3 miles
11: Stay STRAIGHT to go onto CALGARY TRL NW / PROVINCIAL ROUTE 2 S. Continue to follow PROVINCIAL ROUTE 2 S. 14.8 miles
12: Take the HWY-2A S exit- EXIT 516- toward MILLET / WETASKIWIN. 0.4 miles
13: Stay STRAIGHT to go onto PROVINCIAL ROUTE 2A S. 21.1 miles
14: Turn LEFT onto 50 AVE. 0.5 miles
15: End at Wetaskiwin, AB CA

It would be more accurate, of course, if the full start and end addresses were used.

The power of local knowledge. I'll remember that, but when I move to Canada I'm treating myself to a GPS...

Google Maps says it's 92.7KM or 57.6 Miles and will take 1hr and 24 mins.

However it seems to want to take the secondary roads all the way.

I've only tried the ones in Hertz cars. They're always saying "please return to the highlighted rout" which is very frustrating because one would dearly love to return to the "highlighted rout" if only one could find the bleeding ramp. The p-i-l have a GPS and OnStar, which is kind of overkill and is expensive, but there's no chance of them getting lost anywhere a satellite signal can reach.

Mapquest has options for different road types, toll avoidance, and whatnot but I always take the defaults and, as I say, I find their timings to be remarkably good.

No such options with Google Maps, you get what it thinks and like it.

I'll keep Mapquest in mind in future.

Mind you it would help somewhat if I read the original post correctly and got directions to the right destination. :o:rolleyes:

Cheers

Thanks everyone. Anyone know anything about the area? Its just houses seem abit cheaper there. Hubbies company will be based in Edmonton but he will probably travel around anyway as will not be a set work place as he is a carpenter. Anyone think it would be difficult to commute from here??
An hour isnt bad he travels over an hour now in the UK to his current site.

Why would you want to commute 1hr when you could commute 5 mins, or 10 mins etc ?

My daily commute reduced from 1 hr each way to 10 mins and it's great!

Space. I moved from downtown to the suburbs so as to have space for a trampoline. Now I'm likely to move from the suburbs to the country so as to have room for horses. As the commute increases so does the amount of land one can afford.

Which is one of the reasons we are moving to Canada. An hour to commute is no bother if you get the space etc you want. I am interested if any one knows if the area is nice.
