count your blessings in that respect..school mums are the most annoying and anal people on the planet..i thought they were bad in the UK but in Canada they take the irritation level into overdrive!!

Not my experience. Met some very nice people via the kids. Its a big country, so I guess there is plenty of scope for different experiences.

Volunteering wise.... we've done some 'Inn from the Cold' evenings where we helped out my brother and SIL which we've both enjoyed.
There will be room to get more immersed in volunteering once hubby has found work. I think he will feel more settled then......

Why not try a wine and cheese evening and invite some neighbours around?

Volunteering? Doing something for nothing... I don't think so. Somebody want's my labour - they pay me.

Do they have fruities over here? I'm pretty sure we don't in Ontario, there is probably some law related to drinking and having fun at the same time.
We used to talk about getting a hobby, but would then think F it and have another pint. Just always seems like a lot of effort.

We just wandered down to our local patio. This walk takes us past our local Indian restaurant. The staff were sitting outside before the evening shift, recognised us, and had a nice chat. Pretty much on first name terms. That's us sorted
I'm going to suggest they get a fruity and add Phall to the menu.

The only fruit machines I've seen over here were at an native casino but they were really crap ones that didn't have nudges or even a story line. On the flip side the beer was really cheap so I just had a few and didn't play on any of the machines.
