I do actually have one last query. They haven't used my sponsor's current address on the letter I give to migration, they've used a previous one!
Anyone have a clue how I sort that out? The only number we have is some automatised line that is little use! |

Hmmm not sure what you mean. What letter?
"It says at the top "GENERIC DOCUMENT - 3 PART DISTRIBUTION" then it says ENFORCEMENT DOCUMENTS, CONFIRMATION OF PERMANANT RESIDENCE, and OTHER DOCUMENTS it's got your photo on it and you're supposed to sign it at customs in canada with the immigration officer, i believe" It seems that they have input the addresses wrong, as I have a copy of her application and it's damn clear it's not the current address. |
Re: First Steps! UK -> Canada
No strsss, Broon, the immigration officers at the Airport will sort it out. it's very easy. They will make final cross checking of your eye colour, hight address and other stuffs, when you meet them at the airport.
Congrats once again. |
Re: First Steps! UK -> Canada
We've just taken a look through the forms. That address isn't anywhere apart from in my wife's American passport from when she landed in Canada! What a bizarre place to take it from!!!

Weird, i didn't have any address on my returned docs. Maybe it makes a difference because my wife's a Canadian citizen?
No doubt I've another letter to write. Also, when do you get your original documents back, certificates, etc? |

As is my wife. She immigrated there about 14 years ago as a child and became a citizen about 6 years ago.

Re: First Steps! UK -> Canada
Last Saturday I sent a letter to the London office with photocopies of the paper they issued (with the error), our original forms which state the correct address and the letter given to me by the in-laws stating their intent to house us (with the correct address also on).
Hopefully they'll simply amend the form and send a new one out. Damned if the original is leaving my hands!! |

Thank you all so much for your posts (wonderful info MR79). Although the paperwork is excessive, it's nothing I haven't being through before. My wife came over here on a fiancée visa which was then bumped to a spouse visa once married.
Just a few facts to clear any grey areas here. I've lived in the UK all my life. The wife is currently in the UK with me while we get my visa application off the ground. But may move back once everything is sent in - is this a wise idea? Is there a benefit (visa wise) to her staying here? Interviews? I'm 27. I've been in constant employment since I was 16. We currently live in Cheshire. We plan to move to Cobourg, Ontario initially with my very supportive in-laws. I'm going to read through all the forms this week, while DIYing the house to try and get a little more value out of it. Life has been very hard these past few years, but the bottom line is I've had a roof over my head, a family that is always there for me, and a beautiful loving wife. Money comes and goes and I'm willing to put up with a financial millstone around my neck for the sake of some happiness and stability. |
