I think your crown jewels are safe. It took 3 months to drop from 2.30 to 2.10. (Oh why didn't I see the writing on the wall back then???)

Re: Exchange rate

FYI, US unemployment report today, first Friday every month. Markets are usually pretty quiet and rangebound ahead of this data. Not today, very eratic and directional, something is going on. Price action would suggest there is a possibility of emergency rate cut coming from somewhere, since Canada cut earlier this month, UK and Europe had rate decisions yesterday both unchanged, that leaves the US.

This would cause further weakest in the US$. Possibly dragging CAD$ with it somewhat.

Chris - do you actually find time to sleep? It's 4am is it not? Are you up early or just not been to bed?

Re: Exchange rate

I get up a 1.45am to trade...and go to bed at 10pm during the week. I trade from the spare room in our house, so have a bed beside me. I will usually try to grab 3 to 4 hours of sleep during the day, but stay by my machine from 2am until 4pm. While sleeping i will just set alarms on my system so if the market breaks certain levels it makes a noise and wakes me. However, if i have not had 6 hrs sleep combined on Monday and Tuesday i will take a Wednesday off. Also, i set myself a weekly target once i hit that i switch off and relax. I had to take Wednesday off this week, and hopefully will hit my target over the numbers which are due at 8.30am local time. Then it will be back to bed until early afternoon.

In the UK i covered the same hours but was in front of my screen from 7am until 9pm. Meant as a family we lived for the weekends. At least here in Canada i am disciplined enough about it to get the sleep i need, but come 4pm i belong to the wife and kids.

If i didn't take the job this professionally i would be nowhere near as successful. The fact that i cover these hours means i spot anything out of the ordinary.

It helps!!! i still have another 10 years in me probably, it is about being disciplined with the sleep.

purple80, i am sure the OH will be delighted with that. Good luck selling the house, hope you get to join him asap.

I've got to say Chris I'm glued to your comments on the exchange rate market. We exchanged a few words a couple of weeks ago just before we were due house hunting in Barrie. Anyway we bought one and close at the end of July so my fingers, like all the others in a similar position, are firmly crossed for an up-turn in the pound. Keep the info coming.

Re: Exchange rate

they haven't cut rates but the FOMC just intervened in the financial markets providing 100 billion US$ in liquidity. Basically, providing cheap lending for the banks. We have the huge number in 10 mins aswell, this is dictate market direction for the next couple of weeks

We bough in right on the edge of the City limits in the South West corner of Barrie. Leave the 400 at Mapleview and its the last sub-division on the left.

We really fell love with the place, even though it was covered in two foot of snow. Infact I really miss the snow now.

Chris.

Almost at 1.99 but will it hold or even keep going? We sold our house a while ago and hope to be in Calgary by the summer. Its pretty stressful trying to decide when to jump in:eek:
