You really need to get out more.

Mrs_P and I were out and about today stopped in all three places that I suggested.

Most humble apologies

I could only find one hollow egg that had anything worthwhile in it and that was a Smarties Egg absolutely nothing else. I am amazed I wonder what happened to them all, perhaps people realised they were being ripped off big time and stopped buying them.

Either way you are correct there is little to no choice out there.

Marbles well and truly gone?

Perhaps you was thinking of the eggs you saw before you left the motherland?

The range of eggs you can get in the UK is quite frankly getting out of control.... Can probably even get a Wine Gums one - how about that?

Not thinking of the motherland at all (47 years is a long time) but what was available here not that long ago.

We do have two now grown boys we used to buy Easter eggs for right up until the last couple of years or so.

Don't recall any wine gum eggs but do remember ones with "Fuzzy Peaches" in them.

As I said I'm amazed at the lack of them compared to what was available not that long ago.

Took a look in Shopper's Drug Mart today - they had Smartie's and Reece's hollow eggs with said product inside. Better than nothing, but not even close to the range that the UK has...

Not that bothered personally, but I have fond memories of easter as a kid with lots of choc, would like my son to have the same

You obviously failed to read my post? They're not for me, they are for my son. Maybe I should tell him to "man up"?

For those in BC, Alberta, and Ontario, what about Purdy's?

http://www.purdys.com/Easter-C11.aspx

And for those in Vancouver, Notte's Bon Ton makes some beautiful easter eggs. Unfortunately they don't have any photos of them, but it's worth a visit regardless!
