And then the tea question:

"What kind of tea do you drink?"

"Tea".

"Yes, is it like orange pekoe?"

"I dunno, ..........it's............Tea...."

When I used to work at the CHC in London my assistant, a BC girl, got into the habit of buying coffee for the two of us at a local Starbucks (a place I'd never been to). When it came to my turn to buy, I asked her what she wanted. Then I asked her to write it down.

"I'd like a regular coffee, please, and my assistant wants this <hands over bit of paper>; I think she may be taking the piss."

Why bother emigrating here Paul? Judging from your culinary tastes you've already gone too far 'native'.

Boston Cremes - Bleugh!! Like a giant zit. ;)

True and the very best of luck to you and the family.

The only down side is that your boy will develop a North American twang. Still you can always harangue him like the Scots father in: 'So I married an axe murderer'.

"Oi heid! Move it....it's like a virtual planetoid - it has it's own weather system."

It all depends as to whether or not you like strong coffee and then proceed to weaken it with cream (milk) and sugar or whether like it just plain black no additives. ;)

I prefer my coffee black but not too strong so I don't see Timmies as being "dishwater". :p:D

In that vein I see Starbucks as being "battery acid" it's way too strong for me.

I completely agree with you. Tim Hortons is just right for me in terms of its strength. Starbucks causes me to have..erm...'digestive issues'...

My sister-in-law prefers Timothy's Coffee to the 'swill' she says I drink. I think she's just an elitist!

Can I change the direction of this thread slightly please ? :o Can't vote in poll as neither hubby nor I drink tea or coffee - sacrilege I know - but I do like a nice hot chocolate !!!

What do you make your Canadian guests when they come into your home? - I do the 'tea-bag in a mug' thing in the UK - don't remember the last time I used a tea-pot - and have mastered the the instant coffee granules too (love the smell of coffee, by the way, just can't stand the taste).

So I won't have a coffee maker or a tea-pot - can I get away with dishing out mugs of British 'she can't make a decent cup' stuff to my visitors/workmen/etc ???

You cannot possibly serve up instant coffee!!!!! It's absolutley bogging! Heheeeee. Get yerself a coffee maker - they're dirt cheap here. I got a 12 cup maker for $10 in Crappy Tire.

Oh, they have teapots here as well so no excuses on that front.

As Trish says - instant coffee is donkey p*ss! Useful to serve to people you don't like and want to leave your home quickly.;)
