Just wondering what the ex-pat taste buds favour?

I've tried to like Tim Horton's, honest I have, but it's too weak.

Personally I like coffee you can stand a spoon up in.

Amen to that.

It has to be blacker than the Earl of Hell's waistcoat and dissolve the fillings in your teeth on contact.

Plus that annoying Roll the rim to win tv ad every two mins was irritating to say the least!

So you can only drink it once?

No I just schedule a dental appointment after each Tim's visit and get new fillings every time.

They give away so many during the Rrrrrrrroll up the rim promotion that is makes economic sense.

Biggest disappointment was coming to Canada to find that I'm living 2 and a half HOURS drive from the nearest Tim's! Yes, it IS possible to be that far from a Boston cream doughnut! Boohoo!! Thankfully one of the local grocery shops sells tins of Tim's coffee, so I do get my fix every day!

I thought it was physically impossible to be more than 200 yards from a Timmies. There's even one in Afghanistan, FFS!

I'm with you. I wish Bridgehead would expand their locations a bit outside of the Ottawa CBD. The only thing I don't like about the place is how earnest they are about how eco-friendly they are. I like their coffee full stop, but I wish they would pare down on the eco-preaching etc. I also think that they hire unemployed actors etc. and give them laptops to make the place look busy.

There's something about Timmy's and road trips - a mixed box of timbits and a medium straight-up do seem to make the next few miles disappear a little less tediously, but otherwise if there's a choice between Tim's regular blend and an alternative that tickles the tastebuds a bit more forcefully, I wouldn't bother with Mr Horton's emporium. I suppose if you pour buckets of cream and sugar in they level the playing field a bit, but I've never got the hang of sweet coffee, to me it rather defeats the point.

And don't get me started on the "flavoured" concoctions - a UK-based friend of mine goes nuts for the french vanilla stuff, begs anybody visiting to bring some over, but, well, just bleeeuuugghhh!
