I thought they had stopped the whole 'pets as checked baggage' option last year? When we came over last year we were told all pets with Air Canada had to go as cargo.

I think if they and their crate are >70lbs they have to go as cargo... so cats are okay for excess baggage, small dogs too, but nothing bigger.

We are looking into the exact same thing at the moment. We are trying to take 2 cats to Calgary in Sept. If you travel after Sept 10th (the end of the embargo) they can go as excess baggage. If you want to travel with them during the embargo they have to go with AC Live Cargo. They can still travel on the same flight as you but you jave to drop them off at a different location just off site from LHR. And I think they go by weight and dimension as opposed to a flat fee. That's what I was told today, anyway. Hope that helps.

On the same note, are people taking their pets as excess baggage more these days or using a pet relocator? I was hoping to find some info on which pet relocator to use - just in case.

Thx.
