Hi
I just called Air Canada to change our flights back 3 days to facilitate the sale of our house and the lady kindly informed me that there is an embargo from June 10 to August on taking cats so it would not be possible. They will however honour our previous booking which came in before the embargo!!
Does anyone know any more

It's probably a heat thing - most airlines refuse to carry pets during the hottest months of the summer because the hold is not air conditioned.

I just looked at their web page:
http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelin...gage/pets.html
Annual holiday blackout dates
Due to increased passenger and cargo loads, Air Canada is not able to transport pets:
From December 18 to January 7 (either as checked baggage or cargo).
From June 20 to September 10 (as checked baggage).
Clients wishing to travel with pets must book flights that fall outside this embargo period.
The heat thing will be a major factor but also the fact that it is peak time and the flights will be full. They also have an embargo on over the Christmas period too for that same reason.

Not surprising considering the amount of extra luggage they have to carry during those periods that they don't want to take the risks with animals.

Worried if there is no air conditioning - there must be some king of climate control
Please explain !

Seriously - our two cats came over on a flight during August and were none the worse for it. The airlines have plenty of experience with pet transport so don't worry.

are there any airlines that allow you to purchase a seat for your cat so they can travel with you? (in it's cage)

Well they are honouring bookings made before the embargo which is great. Im sure the cat will be fine.

I hope not. OH is majorly allergic to cats...being trapped in a tin can with cat hair being blown around would make a long flight freaking miserable for him, and many others.
