Re: Cable TV/Internet/Phone
We have Bell for all 3 tbh they have not been a problem, they turned up to install when they said they would, the customer service rep on the phone helped me a lot, I told them what we had in the UK and we matched it here.
I know some people on this forum dont rate Bell, but my experience with them has been good. |

Can you work their website? I see a shouty black man and lots of rolling pictures but, as soon as I try to click on one, it disappears. If I ask for help I get a chat window with someone who can't write in English who keeps pasting "thank you for using Bell" "have a great day" and other useless crap without helping. If they want paying they're going to have to send a proper bill.

I signed up for continuos payment so they just deduct every month from our account - less hassle for us.

Videotron is not a pile of cack. I can safely say that its the best internet you can get. In 4 years here my connection is never down. They will always
beat both Bell and Rogers on price. The internet is faster and more reliable as well. I have them for my home phone and TV also. Most of my friends have videotron at least for internet. I would highly recommend them. Montreal seems surprisingly poorly served for digital cable. Videotron and Bell look to have carved it up between them. |

I wouldn't do that with Bell, I wind up disputing every second or third bill, something I'd rather do before they've had the money.

Re: Cable TV/Internet/Phone
I've had primus for years and not had a single problem. It's cheap, and there are no download restrictions which is always the best :D

Re: Cable TV/Internet/Phone
quick query, i'll be arriving in october and will want a pay as you go set up until im on my feet.... i already have two handsets and all i want is a gsm sim card, is it possible to get the sim card without the handset?
not sure if it matters or not but the handsets are both blackberry (bold & 8800) and im not actually wanting to use the email features just use them as a standard phone until i get onto a proper plan but dont want to have to fork out $100 for handsets i dont need... thanks |
Re: Cable TV/Internet/Phone
With fido they generally have an offer where buying the phone and sim card comes with some free air time that makes it the same as just buying the sim and air time. You pretty much get a basic phone for free.

Does anyone have any recommendations and/or horror stories (STAY AWAY!!!) regarding any particular service provider?
I've looked at videotron and Bell but am a little confused by all the different packages etc. I just want decent TV service, basic home phone and internet without any daft download restrictions. we have Bell for Cell phone, land line and internet, plus Star Choice (shaw) for our TV's. no complaints at all. so far :) |
Re: Cable TV/Internet/Phone
Anyone got any comments on the Telus Satellite, it's a resell of Bell, but have found Telus CS much better than Bell customer service and Star Choice have really ticked me off. Put the price up without telling you until the bill arrived.

Re: Cable TV/Internet/Phone
I'm using Teksavvy dry DSL for $41/month. So no fixed line required. Max speed here in Ontario is 5Mbps but the download limit is 200G, way better than Rogers.
For fixed phone I use vbuzzer VOIP. $50 per year for a local incoming number with unlimited local calling. Refuse to pay Bell/Rogers $30+/month. For mobile check out virgin mobile. No incoming SMS fees and pretty reasonable prepay rates, eg. $20/month for 200 anytime minutes. No system access fees or any other fees for caller id etc ala Fido. |
