Come on Bristol, it's the lack of good telly in the evening that drives them off dontcha know? Actually, although we seem to have had "lots" of rain, I haven't been bitten to badly here, yet!

As others have said, no problems in Vancouver. I've never been bitten anywhere though.

I was in Edmonton and Spruce Grove in mid May and there were huuuuge mozzies. Everyone else was covering themselves in loads of bug spray, but I didn't bother. I jumped on the John Deere and cut the grass at the acreage, but I still didn't get bitten. Barbeque on the deck in the evening, still no bites.

Hmm, I have been bitten quite a bit in west vancouver. But only in the evenings during outdoor sports practice.

adele, you are so lucky! They make a beeline for me so I have to ramp up the anti-mosquito spray - not fun!

The first few years we were here, mosquito bites (even in Toronto) would really affect me. Now, not so much. I still get a few bites, but they don't cause the same allergic reaction.

Worst place? Point Pelee in August. The stable flies were brutal.

cheers,
 Stewart

The insects that bite the least? Or the areas with the fewest number of biting insects?

We live in Canmore Alberta and we hardly get any bugs! Just a light(and I mean light) smattering of small mozzies in may/June. Other than that we are bug free.

That's probably because insects don't like fires.

True I got bitten yesterday on my elbow and it was windy. However I weeded the garden wearing shorts and didn't get bitten at all while wearing it.

Mosquitoes are attracted by sweat I read. They can smell it from 25m away.
