Ey up,
We're now in Newcastle, but the wife and I are both from Richmond.
We're going to Manitoba through the Provincial Nomination route.
Nearly there - just waiting to be asked for passports - which seems to be taking ages!
Good luck!
Cheers

Yes, I am. Been away from the forums for a while but we're in the throes of applying now after a lot of procrastination. Not that I can be of help though I don't think!
I'm in Hull, btw.

Hi there, we moved from Selby (well Brayton) in March 2005.
We love it here, although it's a little hot at the moment!
Welcome
Linda

I was born in Sheep Ridge in 1944 but only stayed a few months, does that count.?
In 2 weeks it will be exactly 50 years in Canada.

50 years? Wow! My dad had the chance to emigrate to Canada - Ontario I think - when I was young and he got scared and turned it down. He always regretted it till the day he died.

Hi
Yes, I'm from Yorkshire too. Halifax. My OH is Canadian and from BC but house prices are ridiculous over there so we're looking into Nova Scotia. The flight is shorter too.
Best wishes

Nova Scotia is a pretty Province and you will find less expensive Housing, but it will not appreciate to the same degree as property in BC.
Capital Gains on your Primary residence are Tax Free, so the trick is to Buy property that will appreciate when you are young, Sell and Buy Down when you retire, put the money in the bank to augment income.
Mahone Bay is my personal favourite, followed by Luneneberg and Chester.
